Representatives of the Academy of Arts of the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI): Head of Academy of Arts Lukas Alsys, Fashion Design lecturer Milda Jankuvienė, Design lecturers Kęstutis Vaikšnoras and Gintarė Jarašienė, together with their partners, implement the international project “Exploring Green Futures: Integrating the New European Bauhaus into Art and Design Education” (Futures Design-ED). Representatives of five institutions from Lithuania, Cyprus (Frederick University is the project coordinator), Belgium, Italy, and Greece are participating in the project.

The main objectives of the project:

    • Create hybrid and alternative learning spaces according to NEB;
    • To improve the sustainable competencies of art and design educators;
    • Strengthen and improve employment opportunities in creative industries;
    • Promote behavioural changes consistent with the green transformation.

The goals of the Futures Design-ED project aim to develop and integrate art and design micro-credentials into existing higher education programmes, with a focus on developing skills that are considered necessary for the implementation of the Green Transition, the Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs, and the New European Bauhaus – NEB. It is aimed at students of different design disciplines (interior, graphics, fashion, etc.) and professionals working in the aforementioned directions. Such a shift towards sustainability in higher education art and design programmes will help future designers of various disciplines to continue the project vision related to the ambition to create beautiful, sustainable, inclusive places, products and to apply sustainable development goals in daily and professional activities.

By participating in the implementation of the international project Futures Design-ED, representatives of the Academy of Arts create a sustainable, inclusive and creative future.
