The Faculty of Business of Kaunas University of Applied sciences together with Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts and the Enterprise Europe Network organizes meetings with the former Ambassador of Nicaragua to Lithuania and other countries Ricardo Jose Alvarado Noguera, which, based on many years of diplomatic experience, will introduce the possibilities of international business and access to new markets.

Lithuania’s main trade partners are in Europe. However, the former Nicaraguan ambassador is convinced that the opportunities for Lithuanian companies are also endless in Latin America: clean technologies, circular economy, energy, health, manufacturing, mining, retail, telecoms, transportation, logistics, Fintech, among other areas. A few years ago, a Brazilian businessman with Lithuanian roots said to R. Alvarado: “The potential is unbelievable”.

Ricardo Alvarado says that “Latin America and the Caribbean, a region with a population of approximately 650 million people and 33 countries, offers immense business opportunities for Lithuanian companies across a wide range of sectors. However, Lithuanian companies and technologies are not yet well known in the region. On the contrary, companies from other Northern European countries continue successfully expanding their market presence there. Some companies have even been doing business in Latin America for more than 70 years” Examples will be given during the Webinars.

The first session will be held on Tuesday, May 25, at 10 a.m. The former Dean of the Finnish Diplomatic Corps will moderate the discussion “International Business. Access to new markets in Latin America and the Caribbean”. The speaker will present the behind-the-scenes, challenges and opportunities of business in these regions to Lithuanian companies and share examples of how to successfully enter the regional market. During the meeting, Nicoletta Favaretto, Chief Project Officer of the EU-Latin America IP SME Helpdesk, will deliver a presentation on “How to Protect Your Intellectual property in Latin America?“ The report will take 20 minutes

Wednesday, June 2, 10 a.m. there will be a discussion “International Business. Access to new markets in North America. ” Ricardo Alvarado will present challenges and opportunities for Lithuanian companies, focus on business opportunities in Mexico. Topics will include the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the renewed Mexico-European Union Free Trade Agreement.

Ricardo Alvarado is a diplomat with more than 20 years of diplomatic experience in Northern Europe. From 2007 August to 2011 June he was Dean of the Danish Diplomatic Corps, in 2011 appointed First Ambassador of Nicaragua to Lithuania, and from 2017 August until 2021 January – Dean of the Finnish Diplomatic Corps.
