Kaunas University of Applied Sciences International Week is back – the event spanning from March 29th to April 2nd will bring the academic community and business world representatives back together again. The topic of the twelfth International Week – “Collaboration for Future: from Technology to Person”. The event will invite participants to a familiar and customary virtual space while presenters talk about the current issues we face today and will review future tendencies.

“Several reasons lead to choosing this subject this year. Firstly, the aim is to respond to the general operating principles of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, like integrating new technologies into studies, application of creating technological solutions that create value, basing of study content on the latest scientific and artistic results, knowledge and achievements, etc. The subject is also relevant on an international scale because it meets the priorities for the development of education raised by the European Commission. In the new Erasmus+ programme, increasing inclusion, digitization, adaptation of new technologies, development of environmentally friendly activities, etc. are also emphasized,” Jolanta Valiaugienė, the Head of the International Relations Services Department of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences talking about the subject selection for this year’s International Week. She also adds that new technologies and soft skills are becoming increasingly relevant considering the impact of COVID-19 to education and the labor market.

International Week opens opportunities for future cooperations

International Week events are a great opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, broaden connections while initiating and realizing international projects. J. Valiaugienė notes that Kaunas University of Applied Sciences members involvement into the International Week – quite important because it encourages further cooperation with foreign higher education institutions and creates conditions for mutual experience sharing.

“Lectures to Kaunas University of Applied Sciences students will be delivered by foreign higher education school lecturers. We hope that students will actively participate in lectures – it is a great opportunity to gain knowledge in the professional field, improve English knowledge. Participation for lecturers opens up opportunities to share their experience and see how foreign colleagues convey the same information to students. Perhaps both lecturers decide to carry out an exchange? Or maybe the lecturers decide to lecture together, combining the Universities and other foreign institution‘s students’ groups? With the existence of virtual studies and mobility opportunities, it becomes very real,“ says the Head of International Relations and encourages community members to actively participate in International Week events.

A novelty awaits the event this year

This year, International Week will meet the participants not only by moving to a virtual space. J. Valiaugienė reveals that there is another innovation in the programme of the event – a virtual fair for students of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences and foreign higher education institutions. It is hoped that this will encourage two-way student exchanges for studies and internships.

“This year’s strategic priority – increasing the internationalization of activities in Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, so it is quite important to unveil the Universities potential for cooperation as an equivalent European university of applied sciences, and opportunities for the development of studies and applied activities. In addition, we hope to surprise the participants during the planned activities, which will reveal the Universities potential in the fields of fostering art and culture,” says the Head of the International Relations Department about this year’s International Week.
