The 16th edition of the international fashion talent competition “Injection” took place on 22 November in the Aula Parva space of Vilnius University. Twelve designers from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia and Denmark competed for victory, including three students from the Fashion Design study programme of the Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) Faculty of Arts and Education.
The gathered fashion lovers were amazed by the clothing collection “Iliuzija” (eng. illusion) by student Alina Kusaitė, which invited them to look at beekeeping through the prism of illusion: each design, with the help of illusion, conveys the life of bees.
Fashion design graduate Rugilė Mikalopaitė presented the collection “Psychedelic Confinement” to the audience, in which each garment is a kaleidoscope of bright colours, surreal patterns and whimsical textures, causing a disorienting feeling when you are trapped in a psychedelic dream.
Emilija Bertašiūtė, a fourth-year Fashion Design student who created the collection “Obsessed with Self” about inner narcissism, revealed the inner conflict between external perfection and internal fragility. Her aspiration to reflect not only aspects of self-love through clothes but also to raise important questions about authenticity, desire for attention and the emptiness that lies beneath the surface won the victory. By becoming one of the five winners of the competition, student E. Bertašiūtė was given the opportunity to present her creations on the podium of the largest fashion festival in the Baltic states “Fashion Infection”.
‘We are delighted that these students’ collections were selected to participate in such an important competition for the fashion world, and one of them is among the five winners,’ notes Stella Justina Kasperavičienė, a lecturer at the Fashion Design study programme.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education, Albertas Juodeika, also shares his joy: ‘A great achievement by Fashion Design study programme student Emilija Bertašiūtė! Congratulations and wish her success in the future!’
