From the start of 2019, Kaunas University of Applied Sciences is participating in an international project E-DESIGN: Digital Education for Social Inclusion and Global Neighbourhood (No. 604451-EPP-1-2018-1-DE-EPPKA3-IPI-SOC-IN), carried out according to Erasmus+ program KA3 action measures. Project result use in studies – one of the project’s implementation activities.

On November 24–26th first lectures were held for University students while integrating tasks created during the project on the development of three-dimensional (3D) visualizations with the program into the content of the study subject “Geographical and thematic information systems”. After renewing practical tasks, in remote activities, Geodesy study program third year students were introduced to various object visualization possibilities, learnt the principles of 3D graphics creation and object modeling principles, learned to use editing, photo uploading and other tools.

As dr. Vytautė Juodkienė, a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Technologies states, students will complete individual and group assignments to create 3D visualizations each week using SketchUp software. She added that this program has a huge model library where models for the project can be easily chosen.

“After learning to work with the SketchUp program, students can apply their knowledge to interior and exterior creation, architectural projects or for their own work promotion”, – states the project activities implementer V. Juodkienė.

The aim of E-DESIGN – to create a digital European study platform, aimed towards social involvement and the promotion of  global neighborhood. The project is intended for battling social injustice, socially ineligible groups, especially migrants and refugees, digital competence broadening, while trying to improve their employability and active involvement in community activities.
