Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) has become a participant in the international project “EchoGreen”, joining 14 organisations from 13 European Union countries. Lithuania is represented in this project by the Alytus Faculty of Kauno kolegija HEI. Organisations from Malta, Portugal, the Netherlands, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Estonia also participate in the project.
The project (No. 101192646) was initiated by the Siggiewi Municipal Council in Malta. It aims to address current environmental challenges related to climate change, the European Green Deal and the circular economy. “EchoGreen” aims to raise public awareness of sustainability issues, engage residents in active initiatives and share good practices that would ensure a sustainable future for the younger generation. The project particularly emphasises the philosophy of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
The project will start on 1 December 2024 and will run until August 2026. During this period, six international conferences are planned to be held in Italy, Hungary, Malta, Portugal, Estonia and Slovenia. During the four-day events, participants will have the opportunity to participate in discussions, creative workshops, seminars and roundtables. The aim of the conferences is to research and analyse local environmental challenges, exchange ideas and develop strategies based on international experience.
At the end of the project, the “EchoGreen Decalogue” will be developed – a set of practical recommendations for the dissemination and implementation of sustainability ideas in various regions. This decalogue will become a valuable tool to help promote environmental initiatives and ensure sustainable development.
Kauno kolegija HEI’s participation in this project is an important step in the field of international cooperation and a contribution to a sustainable future both in Lithuania and across Europe.
