Ida Daiva Povilaitė, lecturer at the Academy of Arts of the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI), shared her professional knowledge at a remote seminar on the topic “Exploring Cultural Heritage” organised by Istanbul Aydīn University, Turkey.
At the seminar, the lecturer, together with other representatives from Pakistan, Germany, Romania and India, Samar Majid (Lahore University of Education), Michal Gula (INGOS 3D), Kai Christmann (Liquid Television) and Pratishtha Mukherjee (Rishihood University), explored interdisciplinary perspectives of archaeology, creative writing, digital media and 3D technologies to deepen the understanding of cultural heritage.
I. D. Povilaitė raised the question – how to protect cultural heritage? ‘For some countries, the greatest danger to culture is posed by natural elements, and for Lithuania – by Russian terrorism. I spoke about the value of intangible heritage – storytelling, giving an example of how the Russians (quite successfully) destroyed our memory during the occupation and how difficult it was to restore it after regaining freedom,’ the lecturer shared her insights.
Cultural heritage is extremely important for achieving inclusive and sustainable development and preserving the identity of nations, societies, and communities.
