On May 7th, Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) will host the international scientific-practical conference “Business Issues from the Future Specialists’ Point of View 2025” organised by the Faculty of Business. The aim of the conference is to foster collaboration among students, lecturers, and representatives from business enterprises in conducting applied research and participating in discussions on management, economics, law, communication, and other topics relevant to the academic community.
This year, during the plenary session, conference participants will hear from Martas Tankevičius – an entrepreneur and visionary who inspires people to pursue bold changes. His goal is to help discover and realise passions so that life becomes full of meaning and creativity. He is the founder of the first business of its kind in Lithuania, “Eye Photography”, the author of a documentary film about his entrepreneurial journey, and his work has already inspired thousands to take action and pursue their dreams. In his presentation, he will share his success story, insights into the courage to act, and how believing in oneself allows one to live from a beloved activity.
The presentation “The Most In-Demand Profession in the World – Will You Manage to Catch the Train?” will be given by Rugilė Matusevičiūtė – a climate and environmental journalist, member of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network, and European Climate Pact Ambassador. Rugilė has created more than 200 programmes on sustainability and environmental topics and currently hosts the show “Ministry of Sustainability” on Žinių radijas. During her presentation, she will briefly discuss the most relevant new EU sustainability standards, which oblige large companies to provide sustainability reports, and this is exponentially increasing the demand for sustainability specialists in the country and throughout Europe. The speaker promises to share interesting statistics and talk about what a sustainability specialist does and how complex and diverse this profession can be, which, in essence, can be performed by specialists of various qualifications – engineers, architects, designers, accountants, managers, marketers, and so on.
During the conference day, European insights and examples will be provided by Minna Heikinheimo, a Senior expert at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Eastern Finland, who has more than 20 years of work experience in various business management positions in the service and manufacturing industries. Her teaching and research interests include the use of technologies (e.g., digital platforms and artificial intelligence) in B2B sales, the development of digital capabilities, and digital transformation in small and medium-sized KIBS companies. Her published articles can be found in journals such as Industrial Marketing Management.
