International Business is a programme that  reflects the market needs; is based on a module principle that ensures the interdisciplinarity of studies, flexible learning environment, enhancing the role of  students in the study process, encouraging their independence, activity, responsibility for the study results, integrating practical and self-study assignments; doing one semester internship in business companies. The programme is orientated towards problem teaching, formation of students’ systemic approach, socially responsible and ethical business. Students of the programme will study in a higher school or do one semester internship in a business company abroad.

 

The aim of International Business study programme is to teach future international business managers to analyse international business environment, communicate and cooperate with foreign partners and customers, apply business management principles and provisions of international business regulations by planning and organising international business activities in the company or its department.  Therefore,  International Business programme should be chosen by self assertive, result-oriented, communicative people who like working in teams, are responsible, confident, who are not afraid of challenges and risks. Moreover, this programme is aimed at creative people who are not familiar with words, such as “can’t” or “impossible”.

Why study International Business?

The following competencies will be developed:

  • will understand the principles of global business markets and sustainable development.
  • will be able to apply the theories of economics and business management, as well as, legal acts that regulate international business in practice.
  • will be able to analyse the international business environment, conduct applied researches aimed at finding solutions for specific business problems, plan the opportunities for international business development.
  • will be able to analyse and assess international performance results of a business company.
  • will be able to plan and organise international trade processes by responsibly managing the company’s resources.
  • will be able to choose the right tools for creating the added value of exported products in different foreign markets.
  • will be able to plan and organise e-business/ will be able to plan international marketing performance of the business company in different markets and analyse changing market trends/ will be able to analyse international food market and prepare the project on food business organisation.
  • will be able to demonstrate negotiating skills, teamwork skills; to communicate and cooperate in multicultural and multilingual business environment.
  • will be able to perceive their own moral responsibility, to perform in accordance with the company’s mission statement and provide reasoned business related problem solutions, will be able to demonstrate independence and creativity by making managerial decisions, implementing and developing business innovations.
  • will be able to plan their own career and professional development by applying acquired knowledge and skills.

Specialization

E-Business Organization – students will learn to organize and manage e-business. The  study programme focuses on the use and application of modern IT tools for business creation, expansion and development. Such specialists are in high demand in the labour market. It is very important to know and follow legal regulations in e-business, therefore, students will also study the legal environment of e-business.

Study subjects: E-marketing, E-business Legal Environment, Market Research, E-Business Projects, E-business Platforms and Tools, Management of Social Accounts and Websites, Investment and Risk Management, Business Ethics.

International Marketing Management is aimed at creative, communicative and organized people. Success in foreign markets is guaranteed not only by high quality of goods or services, fast and cheap service, but also by effective marketing. While studying the subjects of this specialization, students will find answers to questions on how to find the most favorable foreign market, correctly choose the form and time of entry, use their competitive advantage, to respond quickly to changing trade conditions, etc.

Study subjects: Marketing Management, Brand Management,  International Market Research, Business Ethics, Direct and E-marketing, Content and Social Media Marketing, Measures, Consumer Behaviour.

Languages

Language of instruction: 100% English (a specific level of English is required for this course).

Assessment

A ten-point cumulative assessment system for assessing knowledge and skills is used. Learning outcomes are assessed throughout the semester. Assessment methods include translations, tests, individual and group tasks, their presentations, projects, presentations of practical and self-study tasks, etc.

The final mark consists of the assessment of course assignments  and final examination.

Your lecturers

Lecturers are business practitioners. Highly qualified, experienced lecturers closely monitor their students’ development using inspiring teaching methods. Study materials are related to current events, real-world problems and new academic findings provided by KK research groups. Moreover, businesspeople are invited to lectures to share the most recent, relevant information and their personal experience.

Modern teaching methods include visits to different business companies and presentations delivered by guest speakers. These methods provide our students with hands-on opportunities for learning through exposure to diverse working methods, interaction with unfamiliar industries and organizational structures.

Guest lecturers from foreign universities contribute to the variety of skills and knowledge at KK. Students can gain experience in their study programme from guest lecturers who arrive from the Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands, etc.

Lecturers work in the modules together with lecturers from foreign education institutions where similar study programmes are  implemented.

Learning process

Students will study in a modular study programme which provides a flexible learning environment, promotes student autonomy.

Student-oriented self-study is based on tasks and group activities that encourage problematic and critical thinking. Educational environment is created to enable students to self-control their study process, reflect on their activities and encourage creativity and innovation. The programme strives for students’ active participation in the study process. Discussions and dialogues between the teacher and the student are always encouraged in the lectures.

Intercultural experience

Students will study in a foreign higher education institution for one semester (Finland, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, France, Germany) or do an internship in a foreign business company, therefore, the student’s first foreign language should be English.

International projects

Participate in various international projects under Erasmus+, Nordplus and other programmes, such as Mac2Kaunas, Mac2Warsaw (Businet), B2B Lithuania – Netherlands, etc.

International internships

Take  a chance to do an internship abroad: there are numerous opportunities in Germany, Malta, Ireland, Latvia, Spain, Poland, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Slovakia, Greece, Ukraine, Sweden, etc.

Studies based on practice

In International Business course you will not only learn theory, but you will also be able to apply it in practice due to collaboration with different businesses. Students do their internships in different types of companies: media;  communication and information departments of the centres providing cultural and social services or in manufacturing companies.

Students do their professional internship in their 4th or 6th semesters. They are invited to do an internship in the largest Lithuanian business companies, such as AB „KG Group“, UAB „Kesko Senukai Lithuania“, UAB „Topo grupė“, UAB „Mantinga“, UAB „Pigu“, UAB „Teltonika Networks“, UAB „Theca Furniture“, UAB „Hostinger“ etc.

Future Career

The graduates will be competitive in the international labour market; will have the skills and practical experience necessary to communicate with business partners and customers; will be able to establish and develop their own business; will be prepared for working in the departments of export, supply, customer service, marketing, project management, quality, e-commerce, international relations and communication, product and international business development.

Access to further study

The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering level one university study programmes, they can choose Master programmes. The continuation of studies is possible in the study programmes in the field of tourism and leisure, management, business in Lithuanian and/or foreign universities.
