Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) International Partnership Development Coordinator Jolanta Valiaugienė presented the UNINOVIS Data for L.I.F.E project submitted to the European University Alliances initiative at the Kaunas Regional Development Council (KRDC) board meeting yesterday, inviting KRDC to become an associated partner of the project.

‘The current and future sustainable growth of the European economy and the well-being of society increasingly depend on the value created by data, therefore, with the project we support the development of the abilities of the future generation and current employees to understand, analyse, use and store data in various sectors,’ says J. Valiaugienė.

She notes that the project will not only provide a solid foundation for the public and private sectors of the Kaunas region to increase the number of employees knowledgeable in data science but will also ensure cooperation between regional and European stakeholders in developing applied research activities focused on regional needs.

‘UNINOVIS, with its activities, would contribute to the implementation of the main development goals of the Kaunas region to mitigate the impact of climate change, increase resilience to the effects of climate change, increase social inclusion and reduce employment inequalities,’ shares J. Valiaugienė.

UNINOVIS has four main missions: to provide lifelong learning in data; to integrate innovation ecosystems for collaborative education and interdisciplinary research around data sciences; to foster green and digital transition for sustainability within the Alliance and in European society at large; to achieve excellence in comprehending, analysing, utilising, managing, and safeguarding data.

Kauno kolegija HEI’s membership in this alliance will contribute to strengthening internationality, will allow the institution to expand the network of partnerships, strengthen relations with international partners, create and implement joint study programs, and will open up wider opportunities for international activities among both lecturers and students.

Membership in the European University Alliance UNINOVIS Data for L.I.F.E will also contribute to strengthening the scientific potential, which is an important step for Kauno kolegija HEI in its quest to become a university of applied sciences and to conduct professional master’s studies.

The goal of the alliance is to create an international and interdisciplinary European university from seven higher education institutions with common management, teaching, international relations and research structures. The alliance is focused on the wider use of data science in all academic fields.
