Artificial Intelligence (AI) is considered a revolutionary technology. It is rapidly developing and establishing itself in different areas: business, economy and elsewhere. Art is no exception, the interaction with AI raises a lot of debates and questions.
The participants of the international blended intensive programme Erasmus+ BIP project “The Future of the Interaction Between Artificial Intelligence and Art” implemented by the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) sought answers to those questions: students and lecturers from Liepaja University (Latvia), Rezekne Academy of Technologies (Latvia), Pallas University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), TAI School of the Arts (Spain).
To achieve the main goal of the project – to acquaint students and lecturers with the interaction, possibilities and new achievements of artificial intelligence and art – the project participants, together with the representatives of the Photography study programme of the Academy of Arts, visited the exhibitions accompanying the International Photography and Media Art Festival (IPMA) organised by Kauno kolegija HEI: Boris Eldagsen (Germany) and Tanvir Taolad (Bangladesh) “Trauma Porn”, Jukka Hautamäki (Finland) “Morte”, Cátia Biscaia (Portugal) “Verite”, Zane Cerpina and Stahl Stenslie (Norway) “Art after Artificial Intelligence”, Vitaly Butyrin’s “Selections images”, Vėtrė Antanavičiūtė’s “Artificial intelligence – competitor or helper in creativity?”, Eglė Jasaitytė’s “Freedom”, Dalia Mikonytė’s “Bust”, Timotijeus Rimša’s “The phenomenon of synchronicity in creative AI”. Participants also listened to the lectures of B. Eldagsen (Germany), J. Hautamäki (Finland), Z. Cerpina and S. Stenslie (Norway), V. Antanavičiūtė, Ornela Ramašauskaitė, Gleb Divov during the festival, and actively participated in discussions about how AI shapes the dynamics of the contemporary art market and what ethical aspects it raises, how artists’ creations will look in the future, what forms of presentation they will have and other topics.
To strengthen mutual relations, students and lecturers participating in the project “The Future of the Interaction Between Artificial Intelligence and Art” organised an informal meeting held in the leisure space “Hogas”, during which they shared their impressions from the visited exhibitions, listened to lectures and discussions.
