As of 1 November, The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) in the Netherlands has officially become the eighth partner of the European University Alliance UNINOVIS. This development further strengthens international collaboration among the alliance members, including Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution, which has already established several joint initiatives with The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

The institution will take an active role within the UNINOVIS alliance, contributing to governance and coordination, lifelong learning, green and digital transformation, as well as excellence and dissemination activities.

The inclusion of this institution marks a long-term commitment to uniting higher education providers that share a common vision for advancing applied sciences, innovation, and internationalisation. The partnership between Kauno kolegija and THUAS is already taking concrete shape. For instance, earlier this year the Erasmus+ project Practical Access to Transdisciplinary Hubs for Students (PATHS) was successfully launched. The initiative aims to develop students’ research skills and involves other alliance partners as well. Further cooperation is also underway in preparing a joint application under the Horizon Europe programme.

UNINOVIS Project Manager at Kauno kolegija, Jolanta Valiaugienė, highlighted the importance of THUAS joining the alliance: ‘The experience of this higher education institution in applied sciences and innovation will greatly enhance our opportunities to integrate science, art and studies, to exchange expertise internationally, and to support Kauno kolegija in achieving university of applied sciences status.’

The Hague University of Applied Sciences has approximately 24,500 students, including around 3,400 international students, and maintains partnerships with more than 250 institutions worldwide. The university holds strong expertise in applied data science, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and its UNESCO Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Society promotes the responsible and ethical use of technology for the benefit of communities across the globe.
