On 9–12 September, lecturers from Tampere University of Applied Sciences, TAMK (Finland) visited the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine of Kaunas kolegija Higher Education Institution. The aim of the visit was to strengthen international cooperation and share good practices in the field of healthcare studies.

Guests from Finland gave lectures on the following topics: Family Nursing, Isolation, Depression, Loneliness, Rehabilitation after Neurological Disorders. During the lectures, students had the opportunity to deepen their subject knowledge, actively engage in discussions, and learn about international study opportunities. Such academic meetings not only strengthen intercultural experience, but also encourage students to pursue internships or studies at foreign institutions.

During the visit, the lecturers were also invited to visit the LSMU Kaunas Hospital where they got acquainted with the modern patient care infrastructure. They visited the Geriatrics and Orthopedics and Traumatology departments, where innovative spaces adapted to patients were presented: a modern dining room, a relaxation and waiting area, a seasonal outdoor terrace for relaxation and physiotherapy. They also inspected the occupational therapy room and the physiotherapy hall for patient rehabilitation. It was emphasised that the hospital pays special attention not to the patient’s disability, but to his or her capabilities.

This visit once again demonstrated the importance of international cooperation, strengthened partnerships between higher education institutions and healthcare institutions, and contributed to the high-quality training of students for modern practice.
