English for Public Relations is the study programme that motivates students to participate in the study process by encouraging dialogue with the teaching staff and by creating favourable environment for discussion from the very beginning of their studies. In order to consolidate and deepen their knowledge, students undertake internships in media outlets, communication and information departments of cultural and social service centres, as well as private companies. Students gain intercultural experience by attending lectures and practical activities given by lecturers from abroad. Students can go for part-time studies and / or internship to Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Ireland and Latvia.
The aim of the study programme English for Public Relations is to train socially responsible professionals who are able to communicate correctly in written and spoken professional English, creatively solve linguistic problems in public relations activities, independently and/or in cooperation with other representatives of the professional field coordinate internal and external communication of an organisation, as well as develop and maintain intercultural communication and cooperation.
Language of instruction: English and Lithuanian
Students can choose the 2nd foreign language from the list offered by the Language Centre of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (German, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian etc.)
The Language Centre offers 16 languages as freely elective courses (Lithuanian for Foreign Students, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, Arabic etc.)
A ten-point cumulative assessment system for assessing knowledge and skills is used. Learning outcomes are assessed throughout the semester. Assessment methods include tests, individual and group activities, their presentations, projects, presentations of practical and self-study assignments, etc.
The final score consists of interim assessments and final examination.
The courses related to the English language and philology are taught by 6 PhDs and foreign language professionals-practitioners, who continuously improve their competences in traineeships abroad, actively participate in international projects, carry out scientific research, deliver presentations at international conferences, write articles in international scientific journals and prepare methodological resources.
General courses and courses related to the field of communication are taught by practitioners who work in public and private sector organisations and share their experience with students.
The Language Centre annually employs a number of foreigners to teach other foreign languages (e.g., Spanish, Polish, Chinese, Arabic).
Guest lecturers from foreign universities contribute to the variety of skills and knowledge at KK. Students can gain experience in their study programme from guest lecturers from Latvia, Spain, Ireland, USA, etc.
Studies are based on tasks and group activities that encourage problem-based and critical thinking. Favourable educational environment enables students to self-control their study process, reflect on their activities and promote creativity and innovation. The programme strives for students’ active participation in the study process. Discussions and dialogues between the teaching staff and the student are always encouraged in the lectures.
Students will gain intercultural experience by going for part-time studies and / or internship to Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Ireland, Latvia.
Students can participate in various international projects under Erasmus+, Nordplus and other programmes.
Students can take advantage of undertaking internships abroad. There are numerous opportunities in Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Ireland, Latvia.
Students undertake internships in various types of companies: media outlets, communication and information services of cultural and social service centres, and private companies.
Graduates can create information and communication products in their mother tongue and the English language, know the principles of management, therefore they can work in the divisions of public relations and marketing services of Lithuanian and foreign companies.
The continuation of studies is possible in the first or second study cycle of university studies in the field of Philology or Communication.
