We are pleased that the funding of the Kaunas Municipality programme Initiatives for Kaunas contributes to the third International Photography and Media Art (IPMA) Festival organised this year, which has become an important cultural event for Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI), Kaunas, and the global art community.

The only event of its kind in the European region brings together photography and media artists from all over the world, creating a space for contemporary artists, professionals and students to exchange experiences, establish new connections and launch joint projects in the future. The creator of the festival and its director, Svetlana Batura, lecturer in the Photography study programme of the Academy of Arts, Faculty of Arts and Education, Kauno kolegija HEI, notes that the festival is growing rapidly and brings together thousands of visitors, therefore the allocated funding contributes to the opportunity for Kaunas to be visible on a global scale.

‘This is an investment in the city’s cultural future, economic growth and the quality of artistic life. This not only contributes to the city’s prestige but also enables Kaunas to grow as an international art centre. In addition, the festival provides valuable experience and a platform for students, allowing them to directly participate in global art and creative discussions, thus strengthening the role of Kauno kolegija HEI as a higher education institution in the field of contemporary art and science,’ says Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education Albertas Juodeika.
