One of the areas of activity of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) is increasing the internationality of study programmes, which aims to attract the best foreign lecturers from Europe and other countries.
Cooperation with experts from foreign countries who train medical specialists promotes the modernisation and openness of studies by integrating international experience and expertise.
Dr Eglė Galdikaitė-Brazienė has accumulated extensive experience in scientific and pedagogical activities, participates in international research groups and projects, has teaching experience at Lithuanian and foreign universities – she worked as a laboratory assistant at Vytautas Magnus University, Molecular Biology Laboratory, interned at Kristiansand University in Norway, worked as a lecturer at Vytautas Magnus University, where she taught Animal Biotechnology and Tissue Engineering, Molecular Diagnostics, etc.
In 2016, she defended her doctoral dissertation. In 2019, she taught at Rovira i Virgili University, Tarragona, Spain. From 2020 to the present, she has been working as a researcher at the Eye Genomics Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, where she is delving into the latest gene therapy methods to treat hereditary blindness, using stem cells, fish and rodents to model genetic diseases and test therapies. She is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), and a member of the Broad Institute at Harvard and the MIT Medical and Population Genetics Research Group.
Dr E. Galdikaitė-Brazienė’s lectures contribute to the implementation of the Kauno kolegija HEI’s strategic goals, improving internationalisation indicators, and provide students with an opportunity to become familiar with the latest achievements in biomedical engineering science and their application in practice.
The lecturer’s scientific and pedagogical experience and professionalism ensure the development of the competencies of students of the Biomedical Diagnostics, Radiology, and Dietetics study programmes in the areas of professional research.
