Chemistry and Biochemistry 3 Autumn Diana Barragan Ferrer During the chemistry and biochemistry course, students will be introduced to organic and inorganic compounds and taught how to use the scattering system in radiology. They will apply this knowledge in laboratory practice, as well as gain an understanding of basic metabolism and fundamental biochemical processes in the body. Furthermore, students will acquire knowledge about the endocrine system and how ionizing radiation treatment affects biochemical changes in bone tissue. By the conclusion of the course, students will be able to provide detailed information regarding the impact of ionizing radiation on the patient’s body, metabolism, and overall functioning.
Basics of Public Health 3 Autumn Evelina Dailidaitė After studying this subject, the student will know the legal acts governing the organization of health care, and will be able to apply them in professional activities and teamwork. Students will be able to analyze the factors affecting health, working capacity, longevity, form an attitude towards health, disease prevention, and develop a healthier person by influencing his attitudes and behavior; understand and be able to assess the effects of external environmental factors, population health problems, risk factors and their correction. They will know what methods and means to avoid factors harmful to health, to protect and strengthen health, they will be able to anticipate public health safety problems and preventive measures.
Professional Internship of Computed Tomography 

and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

6/9 Autumn Aurika Vanckavičienė During the practice students will gain deeper knowledge and practical skills about CT and MRI equipment, principles of operation and use. Students will be able to prepare the workplace and medical equipment, applying quality control requirements and the principles of work and radiation safety. Will be able to adequately inform patients about CT and MRI examinations and prepare patients for their performance within the limits of competence. Students will analyze CT and MRI examinations  protocols and will perform CT and MRI examinations without and with contrast media and perform other nursing actions according to scanning protocol. Students will communicate and collaborate with other team members.
Pathology 4 Spring Evelina Dailidaitė The aim of the subject is to know, understand and be able to apply the acquired knowledge in professional practice about the causes of the occurrence of infectious and non-infectious diseases, the mechanism of development, the changes caused at the cellular and tissue level, their consequences and prevalence.
Microbiology 3 Spring Žaneta Maželienė While studying the subject of microbiology, students will evaluate the morphological and physiological characteristics of microorganisms, the effects of microorganisms and their relationship with the environment and humans. They will analyze separate groups of microorganisms. Will learn about chemotherapy for infections. Will understand infectious immunity and its importance in the management of infections. Will know and apply hospital infection control principles (asepsis and antiseptic) during medical radiological procedures.
Genetics 3 Spring Asta Aleksandravičienė This course aims to expand students’ knowledge of the principles of genetics and introduce them to research methods and engineering principles in genetics. Throughout the course, students examine the importance of genetics and their role in the context of the modern economy, study research methods, and familiarize themselves with the application possibilities of laboratory equipment in genetics. The form of study includes lectures, seminars, group work, discussions, and laboratory work.  Student performance is assessed on how well they can analyze obtained results, search for scientific literature, and discuss the selected topic. Students are evaluated by testing of knowledge and skills. 
Final Professional Internship 6/9/12/15/1820 Spring Aurika Vanckavičienė Students will understand the principles of operation and will use wide range of radiological equipment. Will be able to prepare workplace and medical equipment, applying quality control and radiation safety requirements. Will be able to prepare the patient for the radiological procedure and inform about its progress. Will analyze the methods and principles of performing radiological procedures. Will perform radiological procedures and other nursing actions according procedures protocols. Students will communicate and collaborate based on the principles of teamwork.
