International Business Study Course

Study Subjects Delivered in English (Spring)

The course is designed for undergraduate students who study full time or come on exchange programmes to the Faculty of Business. Exchange students have to choose 24 ECTS in core subjects and free electives according to the needs of their study plans.

Annotation Course content
15 50% – Mid-semester tests; 50% – Integrated project and its presentation. The module aims to provide students with the knowledge and develop the skills to comprehensively analyse business environments and choose the appropriate legal form of a business organisation to implement new business ideas. After studying and properly mastering the module of Basics of International Business, the student will know the peculiarities of the development of international business, be able to perform the analysis of the international business environment, be familiar with the national legal business regulations, be able to choose the form of organising business, prepare a plan for the development of an innovative product and its launch to international markets. The concept of the international business environment and the importance of its assessment. Concept of innovation. Issues related to the application and implementation of innovation. Introduction to entrepreneurship.The concept, sources, principles, and subjects of Business Law. Development and stages of economic integration.Innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises. Concept and development of international trade. Simulation of PESTEL analysis. Concept and characteristics of commercial activities. Individual activities. Business licenses. Creativity and innovation in organisations. SWOT analysis of the competitive environment. Concept of a legal person; types, criteria for classification, legal forms. A legal entity, establishment documents, structure of bodies, branches, representative offices, closure, and reorganisation.
Political and legal macro-environment of international business. Management of innovation processes. Value creation processes, supply chain. Economic macro-environment of international business. Product innovation and modification. Principles of organising the performance, organisational structures. Procedure for setting up a private legal entity. Specific features of the establishment of legal entities of different legal forms. Technological environment of international business. Planning operational resources (identification of the demand). Management of the product lifecycle. Business contracts and basic principles of their drafting. National legislation and international documents. Socio-cultural environment of international business. Specific features of the preparation of a business plan.
Analysis and application of the institutes of power of attorney and proxy in legal relations of a business.

8 50% – Mid-semester practical assignments ; 50% – Project The aim of International Business Process Simulation to precondition the acquisition of practical skills and the ability to apply them in analysing and organising the activities of a business enterprise. After studying the student will be able to analyse and evaluate the global business environment, understand the principles of international business management and the processes taking place in a business enterprise; acquire the skills of planning and organising business activities; apply market research methods and modern technical/technological tools while communicating in the mother tongue and a foreign language; and be able to propose reasonable solutions to the problems of the international business of a business enterprise. Students simulates the real activities of a company and reflects the actual processes that take place in a business enterprise. During the IB traineeship, the student works in human resources, marketing, commercial and accounting departments. Students trade with each other in a simulated international business market with companies in Lithuania and abroad, analyse the results of their performance, plan marketing communications, and apply promotional measures and actions.
