On 14–15 March, the team of the Faculty of Medicine of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) participated in one of the largest startup events in the Baltic States – the hackathon Tech_Champ, organised by Kaunas Science and Technology Park (Tech-Park Kaunas). The representatives of the Kauno kolegija HEI – Dr Diana Barragan-Ferrer, Žaneta Mickienė, Dr Aurelija Radzevičienė, Greta Gabuževičiūtė-Nacikūnė – presented an innovative face tape solution, which attracted a lot of attention, and the members of the jury awarded the innovation 2nd place.

‘This achievement is not only an appreciation but also a huge motivation to grow and generate innovative ideas that are relevant and have the potential to turn into real products. This recognition inspired us to believe even more in the products we create,’ shares Kauno kolegija HEI Associate Professor Dr D. Barragan-Ferrer.

The Tech_Champ hackathon is a two-day marathon of ideation and prototyping, during which teams generate innovative solutions to challenges in various fields – from health technologies (MedTech, Longevity, diagnostics) to digital innovations (AI, data processing).

‘What’s next? We are determined to continue the work we have started, improve our innovations and look for ways in which the product we have created could help an even wider range of people. We also received an invitation to participate in the Tech-Park Kaunas pre-acceleration programmes so that we could offer a finished product to the market,’ adds Dr D. Barragan-Ferrer.
