Stress and coping strategies

Students will analyze the links between objective stressors, illness and health behavior. They will evaluate the impact of individual differences in responses to stressors and will be able to determine occupation-linked stressors, maladaptive and adaptive styles of coping. Students will apply different stress management strategies and evaluate possibilities of reducing the effects of stress at work and other environments. |
Rehabilitation in Community

They will understand the concept of creativity, the essence and the nature of therapies. Students will learn how to control the body, voice, thoughts, and emotions practically, and any ideas or themes. |

Identify the aim of occupational therapy, select methods and tools for an occupational therapy program, and carry it out, integrating occupational therapy sessions. They will be able to independently assess the independence and functional condition of children and adolescents with physical and/or mental disabilities, summarize the results of the research, determine the goals of occupational therapy, select models, methods, and tools for an occupational therapy plan and its implementation, to deliver the occupational therapy session, to set criteria for OT program adjustment. |
Adaptation of Technical Aids and Environment. (for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) | 3 | Spring | from 2026 | After the course, students will be able to make an individual choice of a wheelchair or other technical assistance aid, taking into account the nature of the disability and the person’s physical capacity. Summarize the characteristics of the splints produced. Analyze and evaluate the prescription and use of occupational therapy aids and acquire the knowledge to make suggestions for redesigning the living environment. Students will also be introduced to occupational health and ergonomics concepts, basic terms, and applications. Students will have the knowledge and ability to assess body postures in the workplace, the working environment, and the impact of tools on people, and will be able to design prevention programs and advise on the design of safe workplaces. |
Occupational Therapy for Therapeutic Patients

3-4 | Autumn | Evelina Lamsodienė | During the course, students will identify and assess the decrease in self-sufficiency of patients with sight and hearing disabilities, rheumatologic, chronic respiratory, and other diseases resulting in temporary or permanent disability. They will identify occupational therapy aims, select methods and tools for an occupational therapy plan, and implement the occupational therapy program by organizing OT activities. They will provide recommendations for adapting housing for persons with visual and/or hearing disabilities. |

After completing the subject students will know the main principles and methods of psychosocial rehabilitation, symptoms of mental disorders, the difficulties of the patient’s adaptation in society. Will be able to assess the patient’s problems and apply appropriate occupational therapy methods to solve them. |

They will carry out the plan and will be able to observe the patient‘s response to the treatment, will adapt the environment for the disabled and will select technical aids. |
