After a one-year break, the international plein-air “Secrets of the Owls Hill”, curated by the artist, exhibition curator, lecturer Arvydas Martinaitis, is being organised by the Arts Academy of the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) for the twelfth time. During this period, about 100 artists and creators of other branches of visual art from different foreign countries participated in it: Ukraine, Israel, etc. This year, on 20–30th of July, artists from Argentina, Bangladesh, Latvia, Poland and, of course, Lithuania will participate in the plein-air.

Each plein-air organised has a different theme, thus encouraging the participating artists to creative experiments, games, and discoveries. This year’s plein-air is dedicated to the composer, and artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, whose 125th birth anniversary will be celebrated in 2025. Therefore, the ten-day plein-air event will begin with a visit to the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art, where the participants will be met by a guide who will invite them to familiarise themselves with the artist’s creative legacy in the exhibition of M. K. Čiurlionis’ paintings presented in the museum and to look at the paintings through the prism of different researchers, discovering what is personal and close to each individually.

The plein-air participants will be able to get to know one more person – the artist and poet Antanas Martinaitis, together with his son A. Martinaitis by visiting the artist’s creative studio located in Kačerginė.

However, artists will devote most of their time to creativity. In the mysterious surroundings of Owls Hill and in the creative studios of the Academy of Arts, which commemorate the period of the Kaunas Art School, everyone will find ideas and motives for creativity. Therefore, there will be no shortage of inspiration, as well as new friendships that develop into interesting creative collaborative projects or exhibitions, at the “Secrets of the Owls Hill” international plein-air.
