The work of social workers is accompanied by change. Adapting to change, they must constantly update their knowledge so that their ability to help is not limited by a lack of competencies.
In October Virginija Kondratavičienė, head of the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) and Prof. Dr Valentina Demidenko, lecturer at the department, director of the Jonava Social Services Centre participated in the international training Interculturality in social work: peculiarities of the organisation of services provision for migrants, conducted by the professor of the University of Nicosia, who coordinates the Social Work study programme, Dr Stefanos Spaneas.
To share the experience gained during the training and attending the social training with colleagues, the social training Intercultural in social work: peculiarities of the organisation of services provision for migrants is organised, which is provided by members of the Association of Managers of Social Service Institutions.
In the training held in Jonava district Social Services Centre, attended by the heads of Jonava Social Services Centre, Prienai Social Services Centre, Prienai retirement home, Panevėžys Social Services Centre, Šakiai Social Services Centre, Elektrėnai Social Services Centre, Šiauliai Social Services Centre, Radviliškis Social Services Centre and Kaunas City Social Service Centre, V. Kondratavičienė and Prof. Dr V. Demidenko shared not only the practical experience gained during training in Cyprus, but also integrated the latest theoretical knowledge obtained.
The participants had the opportunity to perform practical tasks together with migrants, and war refugees, and were also able to meet the staff and residents of the Rukla Refugee Centre.
