On 9–13 October, the lecturers of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI), Gerda Bukauskaitė-Žiūkienė and Dr Daiva Bartušienė visited the IFSI du Vinatier, France, where the Erasmus+ International Week was held.
During the visit, the lecturers participated in various events aimed at analysing various issues of interculturality related to medicine and health care. D. Bartušienė, lecturer of Health Sociology, gave a lecture on this topic to nursing students.
The lecturers, together with representatives from other countries, had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the RESC (résonance sous-cutanée) therapy taught and practised at this institution, which offers a new perspective on health. Combining Western and Eastern knowledge, the creator of this therapy, Patrick Fouchier, developed a method of listening to the subtle waves travelling through the body, the therapeutic effect of which is increasingly recognised and increasingly integrated into clinical health care.
During the visit, the experiences of organising nursing studies were also shared and discussed, how in different partner countries they manage to implement the latest European Union directives in organising theoretical and practical aspects of nursing studies.
Although the planned week’s agenda was intensive, it also found space for informal discussions and sightseeing tours of the most important objects and spaces of the city of Lyon. One of the most memorable highlights of the visit was the contemporary art exhibition “Le Temps Est Venu”, which is currently open in the premises of the Vinatier hospital.
The exhibition exhibits works of art created using various techniques, the authors of which, for various reasons, sometimes extremely personal and related to their mental health, could not find a place among the creators of contemporary art. This is a great example of inclusive patronage, creating not only a symbolic but also a safe space for artists to exhibit their works.
