Interpersonal connections, implementation and development of fundamental values, critical thinking – that is emphasized in the new video clip of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences. Recent events have showed that modern and up-to-date equipment, new buildings lose their value without the people who are able to support, encourage and gather everyone for a common purpose.

“When we thought about how we would like to present and depict Kaunas University of Applied Sciences and the ideas that are important to us in the video clip, we agreed that this time we won’t focus on numbers, achievements, modern infrastructure, the uniqueness of the study environment and teachers. At least not as usual. We wanted to dig a little deeper and this time talk about feelings, well-being, relationships. Generally speaking, the creators of the clip – the creative agency “Wide Wings” – had the task of capturing and conveying “what Kaunas University of Applied Sciences is all about”.

While communicating with the students, they heard the answer many times that in Kaunas University of Applied Sciences there is a very supportive and friendly environment, teachers and other employees love their work and students. I wanted to emphasize that these people are there to inspire, support students, guide them through different choices, and allow them to grow up as people, personalities, professionals. After all, every person you meet is an opportunity to improve, learn and strengthen,” says Smiltė Juraitė, Head of Marketing and Communication Division of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences.

It is important to develop more than just professional skills

The new video clip of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences was created in cooperation with the well-known and well-recognized creative agency “Wide Wings”, which works with such companies as “Tele2”, “SEB”, “DELFI”, “LRT”, and others. In order to strengthen the image of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences from an international perspective and in response to one of the strategic goals of the university for 2021–2025 – increasing internationality – the video clip is available not only in Lithuanian but also in English.

Usually, higher education institutions compete for admission, trying to attract the attention of prospective students by emphasizing the material base of the higher education institution, rankings, the successful employment rate of graduates, or the achievements. However, another important element is often overlooked – the community, its support for the young professional taking the first steps in the career path, the implementation of common moral standards, and the development of critical thinking so that graduates are not only professionals in their field, but also have strong values.

“In the context of today’s events, it is even clearer that it is not enough to be an expert in your field and a well-trained professional. In order for us to take further steps, to live with each other, to create greater prosperity for humanity, it is sometimes most necessary for students to be trained to become People.

I don’t know if it is too bold to say that we train not only creative, practical, well-oriented professionals in the labor market, but also develop personalities, people who are not unfamiliar with empathy and humanity, who are able to critically evaluate information, make choices that are compatible with compassion, kindness. and a constant desire to improve”, says Smiltė Juraitė, Head of Marketing and Communication Division of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, shares his thoughts.

In order to better introduce everyone, who will watch the new video, with Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, most of the scenes in the clip were filmed on the university premises, with students and lecturers who are members of the Kaunas University of Applied Sciences community.
