Cancelled the year before due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year Kaunas University of Applied Sciences International Week took place remotely, and this year guests from abroad met in Kaunas. International Week, which took place from 7 to 10 March, was attended by more than 20 lecturers and administrative staff from 11 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mexico, Poland, Latvia, Slovakia, South Africa, Belgium, Georgia, France, Spain and Turkey.

Most of the lecturers who participated in the International Week gave lectures to the students of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, which covered 17 topics:

    • Yildiz “Pediatric nursing roles in Turkey; Demographics and cultural diversity in child care in Turkey”;
    • Marie – Chantal “Ethics of care”;
    • Van Landeghem “MS Windows systems”;
    • Kenens “Ergonomics and Occupational safety”;
    • Guvenc “Womens‘ health in Turkey; Covid 19 and perinatal health care in Turkey”;
    • Abdzianidze “Digital Circuits and Microprocessors”;
    • Van Landeghem “Cyber security”.

On the first day of the International Week, participants had an opportunity to take part in the programme prepared by Kaunas University of Applied Sciences folk dance collective “KauKas” at the opening event, get acquainted with the Lithuanian language, go to an exceptional place in Kaunas – Owls Hill – to see the expositions at the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences and take a closer look at the students’ workshops and their works.

The second day of the International Week was dedicated to discussions about Erasmus+ opportunities, innovation and the sharing of experience. Guests of the International Week also participated in a tour of Kaunas Old Town organized by the Tourism and Hotel Management students: guests were introduced to Kaunas Modernism, Vytautas the Great War Museum, Kaunas Sobor (St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church) and other unique places in Kaunas.

On the third day of the International Week, guests from abroad met with the administration of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences. During these meetings projects prepared by Kaunas University of Applied Sciences were discussed. A tour of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences library was also organized for the guests, and some of the administrative staff from abroad had the opportunity to get acquainted with the laboratories of the Faculty of Technologies, the equipment in them, which is currently used by students.

During the International Week, new contacts were established between Kaunas University of Applied Sciences and guests from foreign higher education institutions, ideas for joint projects were generated, good practice, insights and experiences were shared. Participants of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences International Week had the opportunity to participate in cultural activities, get to know Kaunas University of Applied Sciences better, see the places of interest in Kaunas, and expand knowledge by participating in lectures.
