The Temporary Accommodation Department of the Kaunas City Social Services Centre held a preventive activity, in which students of the English for Public Relations study programme of the Kaunas kolegija Higher Education Institution Faculty of Arts and Education Language Centre participated. This activity became a significant part of practical learning, allowing students to deepen their professional and intercultural competences.

Since foreign students participated in the activity, they had the opportunity not only to get to know the social services provided in Lithuania more closely, but also to compare them with the social assistance systems in their home countries. Such an international context encouraged a broader approach to the principles of social responsibility, the organisation of social services and their significance for society.

During the visit, the staff of the Temporary Accommodation Department presented the activities of the department, shared practical experience and emphasised the importance of social responsibility, empathy and respectful communication when working with vulnerable groups in society. Students had the opportunity to get acquainted with various forms of social assistance, preventive measures and solutions applied to individuals with different needs.

Such practical activities significantly contribute to the study process, help students better understand the application of theoretical knowledge in a real professional context and develop a socially responsible, empathetic and critically thinking personality. The visit was organised at the initiative of Jovita Kniežaitė, lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Education of Kauno kolegija, ensuring her professional supervision and student involvement.
