On 4th November, Dubai Design Week 2025 kicked off in Dubai, featuring the Biomaterials Library: Lithuanian and Baltic Creators exhibition. This exhibition showcases biomaterials designed by Lithuanian and Baltic creators, presenting innovative experiments and design objects that embody the principles of sustainable design, the circular economy, and responsible creation.
Indrė Mikuckė, a lecturer in the Fashion Design programme at Kauno Kolegija Higher Education Institution (Faculty of Arts and Education, Academy of Arts), as well as a fashion designer, textile artist, and researcher, is presenting her biomaterial experiments at the exhibition. Her work reflects the latest trends in biomaterial design, offering a glimpse into cutting-edge developments in the field.
The Biomaterials Library is a growing collection of innovative materials and a creative space based in Vilnius—the first of its kind in the Baltic States. The collection documents the contributions of regional creators to sustainable design and biomaterial innovation, fostering international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and global discussions around environmental sustainability and responsible creativity.
The exhibition features works by the following artists: Agnė Kučerenkaitė, Austėja Platūkytė, Ekopolimeras, Evelina Kudabaitė, INDI, Indrė Spitrytė-Mikuckė, Sarmite Polakova, and Waste Matters.
Curated by Austėja Platūkytė, the project is organised by ‘Medžiagotyra’ and funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
The exhibition will remain open until 9th November at the Double J Collective Gallery in Dubai’s Design District. It provides an important platform for Baltic artists to present their innovative research and creative practices to a global audience, strengthening the region’s cultural identity and fostering international cooperation in sustainable design.
