Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution is celebrating its 25th anniversary and invites everyone to come! The Kauno kolegija community encourages everyone to come to the one-day festival marking the beginning of the new academic year, which will take place in a unique place in Kaunas – on the Owls Hill. Not only students, lecturers but also Kaunas residents, city guests, culture enthusiasts, families with children and all those who want to get to know this special place in Žaliakalnis better are welcome here.
‘We want this birthday to be open not only to our community but also to the entire city – so that people experience Owls Hill not only as a cradle of culture and art, but also as a place where inspiration and energy abound even today,’ says Aistė Veverskytė, one of the organisers, Head of the Marketing and Communication Unit of Kauno kolegija.
The organisers of the one-day festival emphasise that the programme combines a solid initiative to honor Čiurlionis’s work, musical performances, reflections on his creative life, the start of science and knowledge, and entertainment.
The event will begin with the return of M. K. Čiurlionis’ triptych ‘Raigardas’ which was exhibited at the ‘Čiurlionies Gallery’ 100 years ago, photographs by Adamas Varnas, folk art works and other exhibits from the collection of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art..
The campaign ‘Returns | M. K. Čiurlionis’ will symbolically connect the past and the present – M. K. Čiurlionis’ works are returning to the first Lithuanian gallery. This is a unique opportunity to see the work of the most famous Lithuanian creator in the place where the first Lithuanian art gallery was born and where the foundations of professional art education in Lithuania were laid.
The Kauno kolegija community will also celebrate the beginning of the new academic year by symbolically raising the flag and saying congratulatory words.
The participants of the event will also enjoy a chamber concert by the Bazarai brothers. The musical experiments of the three brothers – Motiejus, Mykolas and Benediktas Bazarai – combine jazz, rock, electronics and Čiurlionis harmony, using both modern and historical instruments.
The festival will also feature Gamka, whose musical journey began with the hip hop and trap band ‘Flying Saucer Gang’. The artist, who recently released his third album, has been working solo in recent years, moving towards progressive rock.
Participants of the one-day festival will also enjoy free entertainment and educational workshops: pikeball training and tournament, mini disc golf lesson and competition, virtual reality experience of M. K. Čiurlionis’ paintings ‘Pasaulių sutvėrimas’ (‘Creation of the Worlds’), face painting workshops for children, games ‘Vienas smūgis’, ‘Tossit’, Viking game ‘KUBB’ and many other activities.
‘We invite everyone to come and spend time together. This is not just a celebration, it is where our history, education, and art meets the present. We aim for this event to reveal the importance of creativity in today’s world and encourage each visitor to take a new look at the connections between education, culture and the city,’ concludes Milda Rutkauskaitė, Head of the Kauno kolegija Academy of Arts.
The celebration is free and open to everyone.
