Organizational Management study programme is based on the modular principle that allows to ensure the interdisciplinarity of studies, flexible learning environment, enhance the student’s role in the study process, encourage his/her independence, activeness, responsibility for one’s learning outcomes, integrate the practical and self-study assignments.

The programme reflects the market needs; it is orientated towards problem-based teaching, formation of the systemic approach for the student, socially responsible and ethical business.

The aim of the study programme Organization Management is to enable students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the organization’s business processes through the application of modern information technology and sustainable business principles; develop the ability to analyse and solve practical organizational management problems using appropriate applied research methods and tools for independent decision making in a dynamic business environment; be prepared to continually develop through the practical application of acquired skills and lifelong learning.

  • define the basic management concepts and principles and understand the theories and functions of management when applied to the practical operation of a sustainable organization or division.
  • describe and analyse the internal and external environment of an organization and its divisions, and apply knowledge of economics, marketing, accounting, and human resource management to manage and improve organizational processes.
  • carry out applied research using both quantitative and qualitative research methods and to use the information gathered in a targeted way to solve management problems and to improve the processes of sustainable organizational performance.
  • plan, organize, manage and improve the organization’s management processes in accordance with the principles of human resource management and the norms of law and professional ethics.
  • use modern technology to develop processes and manage office documents in a sustainable organization.
  • collect, organize and analyse data on the performance of a business/public organization or its divisions and propose socially responsible management solutions.
  • assess the environmental, social and economic impacts of an organization’s activities and integrate sustainability principles into organizational processes and culture.
  • manage, evaluate, and improve the organization’s business processes through the use of advanced process management techniques and IT tools.
  • work individually and as part of a team, and to communicate and cooperate in a multicultural professional environment. 
  • communicate persuasively and fluently, both orally and in writing, and represent the organization appropriately in Lithuania and internationally.
  • plan a personal career, to continually develop and learn, to understand one’s place in society, and to build positive relationships with colleagues.
  • communicate orally and in writing according to the norms and rules of business communication and to apply creativity and critical thinking in analysing and solving problems related to the operational activities of the organization.

Assessment

A ten-point Accumulative Assessment System is used. Methods of assessment: individual/group integrated projects or/and course/research papers, tests, reports, exams, report on a case study and its presentation, report on a video situation and its presentation, project report, presentation of individual assignments, portfolio method, individual/group integrated self-study assignment, observation of a task performance, project group presentation, presentation of individual self-study assignments, final thesis.

Your lecturers

Lecturers of the study programme are specialists with practical experience in the fields of management, business administration, economics, office procedures, sustainability, and lecturers-practitioners, experts in the management of organizations.

The subjects of the study field are taught by lecturers (associate professors, junior assistants, lecturers and lecturers-practitioners) who continuously improve their competencies through internships abroad, actively participate in international projects, conduct scientific research, deliver presentations at international conferences, publish articles in international scientific journals and prepare methodological resources.

Guest lecturers from foreign universities contribute to the variety of skills and knowledge at Alytus Faculty. Students can gain experience in their study programme from guest lecturers from India, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Spain, Ireland, etc.

Learning process

Students will study in a modular study programme which provides a flexible learning environment, promotes student autonomy.

Student-oriented self-study is based on tasks and group activities that encourage problematic and critical thinking. Educational environment is created to enable students to manage their study process, reflect on their activities and encourage creativity and innovation. The programme strives for students’ active participation in the study process. Discussions and dialogues between the teacher and the student are always encouraged in the lectures.

Students undertake internships in various types of private and public sector companies.

Future Career

The graduates will be prepared for careers in public and private sector organizations as managers in human resources, projects, communications, processes, sustainability, and other areas; and in the private sector; after gaining practical experience, they will be able to manage institutional units and start and run their own organization.

Access to further study

The graduates are entitled to a credit transfer system for entering level one university study programmes, they can choose Master programmes. The continuation of studies is possible in the study programmes in the field of Management and Business in Lithuanian and/or foreign universities.
