The aim of the Multimedia Technology study programme is to prepare qualified specialists who are able to assess multimedia product and digital communication demand in the market as well as opportunities for business, design and justify new product concepts, design and develop products and systems that would meet competitive market needs. Study programme is designed to prepare professional Bachelors in Multimedia Technologies who would be able to work as engineers in various advertising and marketing, telecommunication, publishing, tourism, trade enterprises, education institutions, e-publishing enterprises or subdivisions, organize and manage multimedia product development.
The Multimedia Technology study programme is distinguished by a focus on practical training, strong interdisciplinary profile and a technological and communicative balance.

Learning outcomes. Graduates:

  • survey and analyse IT, multimedia and digital communication market;
  • analyse, master and apply multimedia product design technologies;
  • generate and implement creative solution ideas;
  • prepare a technical task for multimedia product/system;
  • prepare and process textual, graphical, video and audio information required for multimedia product development;
  • design and create multimedia products; install product development systems;
  • test out products, analyse their adherence to standards, compatibility and relevance, and optimize them;
  • introduce and deliver products for customer to publish in various media;
  • plan, organize and manage Multimedia product development processes;
  • communicate with market participants and work in team.

Languages

Language of instruction: English and Lithuanian
Students learn professional English (mandatory subject, 6 ECTS).
The KK Language Centre offers 16 languages as freely elective courses (Lithuanian for Foreign Students, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, Arabic etc.)

Assessment

Cumulative assessment system is applied to assess student’s learning outcomes. Grading system based on a ten-point scale is used to evaluate student’s knowledge and skills. Cumulative assessment system comprises intermediate achievements, self-study/ individual work and examination or project. Cumulative assessment system is subject to change regarding to the study subject. Assessment order, system and criteria are based on principles of validity, credibility, clarity, usefulness and impartiality.

Your lecturers

The courses related to the Multimedia Technology study programme are taught by professors, skilled lecturers and professionals-practitioners, who continuously improve their competences in traineeships abroad, actively participate in international projects, carry out scientific research, deliver presentations at international conferences, lecturing at universities abroad, write articles in international scientific journals, and prepare methodological resources. Each year, several invited foreign professors and guest lecturers teach specialty subjects in the study programme.

Learning process

Interactive theoretical lectures: explanation during lectures along with analysis of practical examples, demonstration of application of methods, discussion, seminar, group work, brainstorming and case analysis. Practice in computer classes, laboratory and practical work, solving practical tasks in the design and creation of multimedia products; solving technological and software tasks in video and audio, programming, interactivity, etc. Practical work report, practical control tasks; tasks for applying theoretical knowledge. Project preparation and implementation, consultations with the teacher and the client, independent work, report, presentation and defense; independent study of scientific literature.

Students can take advantage of undertaking internships abroad. There are numerous opportunities in Portugal, Finland, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Ireland, Latvia, etc. Students undertake internships in various types of companies: media outlets, communication and information services of cultural and social service centres, and private companies.

Multimedia Technology study programme characterised by a strong interdisciplinarity, a strong practical orientation and clear specialisation in digital content creation, graphical user interface design and interactive media technologies. The programme is distinguished by a focus on practical training.

Future Career

Multimedia professionals can work in a wide range of fields: creative industries, media and digital advertising agencies, IT and technology start-ups, e-publishing, game development companies, TV studios, business and public sector organisations, and educational and cultural institutions. They are responsible for digital content creation and editing, graphical user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design, the development and implementation of interactive media solutions for digital advertising, publishing, video and audio products, computer games and virtual or augmented reality environments.

They have a wide range of career opportunities in different sectors, and their ability to create, integrate and manage diverse digital content, including through generative DI, is increasingly important in today’s visual, interactive and creative technology-driven environment, while their interdisciplinary competences.

Multimedia technology professionals can work in a variety of positions, such as digital content creator, responsible for developing visual, audio and animated elements for various digital platforms; UI/UX designer, creating attractive and functional user interfaces and improving the user experience; a multimedia designer integrating text, image, video and interactive elements on websites or mobile devices; an animation and 3D model designer working on games, films or educational simulations; a virtual and augmented reality content developer creating innovative interactive experiences.

Access to further study

Opportunities for further studies at universities are ensured by Master’s degree programs in Information and Communication sciences in Lithuania. Continuity is also possible in foreign higher education institutions.
