Tourism and Hotel Management study course

Study Subjects Delivered in English (Spring semester)

The course is designed for undergraduate students who come on exchange programmes to the Faculty of Business.

Intercultural Communication* 5* During the course special attention is given to developing professional communication skills with representatives of different countries and cultures. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of business etiquette/international business protocol and evaluate core values and uniqueness of cultures, recognizing their worth regardless of nationality, race, cultural, or other differences.
Tourism Anthropology* 5* During the course special attention is given to applying cultural anthropology principles in tourism activities.
Professional English I* 5*
52148 Business Communication** 15 During the module, students will understand the importance of business communication and public speaking in the tourism, hotel and spa industries, and will improve their teamwork skills and linguistic professionalism. The module will enable students to choose appropriate behavioral strategies, resolve conflicts, present the organization, prepare documents, use IT tools, express themselves fluently in both Lithuanian and English, communicate in a businesslike manner via e-mail and apply the principles of social interaction.
Communication Psichology and Public Speaking* 5* Students will understand the importance of business communication and public speaking in the tourism, hotel and spa industries, and will improve their teamwork skills and linguistic professionalism.
Basics of Document and IT Management* 5* The module will enable students to choose appropriate behavioral strategies, resolve conflicts, present the organization, prepare documents, use IT tools, express themselves fluently in both Lithuanian and English, communicate in a businesslike manner via e-mail and apply the principles of social interaction.

51180 Tour Operator Activities (Module Tourism Management I, THM-4) 6 The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and develop skills in planning, organizing, and evaluating the activities of travel service providers, selecting the most suitable solutions to ensure efficient management processes for tour operators.
51180 Tourism Marketing (Module Tourism Management I, THM-4) 3 During the course, students will analyze tourism service marketing. The content also covers elements of the tourism service marketing mix, specifics of market segmentation and positioning, methods for market research and analysis, and their application in practice.
27633 Hotel Management II (Module Hotel Management II, THM-3) 6 During the course, general principles and concepts of hotel management are analyzed, considering the constantly changing environment. Hotel department functions and scenarios of work organization are discussed. Students will be able to identify the problems that might occur in hotel management and apply the most appropriate solutions.
27633 Social Media (Module Hotel Management II, THM-3) 3 During the course Social media channels, social media content, metrics and use of data technologies in the hotel business will be analyzed. Students will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of social media campaigns using key performance indicators and apply data-driven insights to improve overall social media performance.

assignments. + Exams (middle and final). To pass, the student must have a good command of the course contents and the student must receive fairly good
grades from course assignments.

organizations
– understand cultural differences in management and leadership
– recognize the benefits of managing diversity in organizations
