The Faculty of Business of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution (HEI) is one of the largest business and management training centres, uniting around 120 lecturers and 1 200 students. About 500 specialists <\/span>who are<\/span> ready for the labour market complete their studies every year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students who have chosen to study at the Faculty of <\/span>Business,<\/span> apply the acquired theoretical knowledge during practical <\/span>classes,<\/span> and<\/span> do internships in Lithuanian and foreign companies and organisations, laying a solid foundation for their further career. The high quality of studies <\/span>is also shown<\/span> by the data of the 2023 magazine<\/span> \u201c<\/span>Reitinga<\/span>i\u201d<\/span>:<\/span> out<\/span> of 11 study programmes implemented at the Faculty of Business, <\/span>10<\/span> were evaluated<\/span>, which ranked 1st or 2nd in the ranking of study areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The relevance of studies <\/span>is ensured<\/span> by a strong network of <\/span>partners<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The faculty community actively develops social partnerships with companies: their representatives <\/span>are invited<\/span> to give <\/span>lectures,<\/span> and<\/span> jointly create and evaluate study programmes and <\/span>students’<\/span> thesis. The faculty has created a favourable environment for studies<\/span>, the<\/span> auditoriums <\/span>are equipped<\/span> with modern equipment and <\/span>technologies,<\/span> and<\/span> the latest literature in Lithuanian and foreign languages.<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim is for the faculty to become an intellectual space where mutual respect between students and lecturers prevails, an academic relationship based on professionalism and openness, which develops community spirit, a socially responsible person and a specialist.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018B<\/span>usiness representatives participate in the study process from the first to the last step. <\/span>The first step is <\/span>the development of<\/span> a study programme, in which we involve the social partners, asking them what kind of employees they need; the last step is participating at the <\/span>students’<\/span> thesis defence, where the main assessment is written by business representatives.<\/span> There are significantly fewer representatives of the faculty compared to representatives from business,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>shares Dalia Ilevi\u010dien\u0117, Dean of the Faculty of Business.<\/span><\/p>\n

She points out that every year <\/span>the<\/span> committees, which also include social partners, follow tendencies <\/span>and<\/span> when<\/span> changes are needed, business representatives cooperate with the faculty, initiating changes in existing study programmes or proposing new ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018T<\/span>hose who graduate from Kauno kolegija HEI receive a professional <\/span>bachelor’s<\/span> degree. This means that graduates are ready to start working right away,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>says the Dean of the Faculty of Business.<\/span><\/p>\n

The demand for business data analysts is <\/span>skyrocketing<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>There is no doubt that<\/span> due to the ever-increasing amount and importance of data, the need for professionals capable of turning massive streams of information into clear, actionable insights will only grow.<\/span> In response to these market changes,<\/span> the Business Data Analytics study programme was launched<\/span> at the Faculty of Business.<\/span> The <\/span>organisers of the programme<\/span> draw attention to the fact that <\/span>business data analytics cannot be equated<\/span> with mathematics.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018T<\/span>he need for a Business Data Analytics study programme was very clearly identified, first of all, by business representatives. It <\/span>is also calculated<\/span> that the amount of data doubles every two years<\/span>, but the<\/span> number of specialists who could manage this data does not really double every year or two,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>says Dr Raminta Andr\u0117ja Ligeikien\u0117, Head of the Department of Business.<\/span><\/p>\n

She reveals that according to research by IBM, the United States is losing $3.1 billion annually to unused data:<\/span> \u2018<\/span>I think these facts help to understand the need for business data analysts<\/span>.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Business data analytics is <\/span>an exceptionally important<\/span> area that helps companies better understand their operations and market dynamics. The shortage and need for these specialists in the labour market is <\/span>particularly<\/span> high. After successfully completing their studies, graduates will be ready to work as business analysts, market and marketing analysts, procurement analysts, production analysts, and<\/span> business consultants in Lithuanian and international companies<\/span>, they<\/span> will have the skills to engage in individual consulting activities and<\/span> establish and develop a personal business.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018T<\/span>he Business Data Analytics study programme is not mathematics, but a business study field. <\/span>This<\/span> means <\/span>that students<\/span> will delve more deeply into business and its problems during their studies. Of course, they will get to know the basics of programming and learn to work with the tools needed for data analysis<\/span>, but the<\/span> most important thing is the <\/span>graduates’<\/span> ability to see problems and offer business solutions to those problems,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>says Dr R. A. Ligeikien\u0117.<\/span><\/p>\n

She also points out that the study programme <\/span>was initiated<\/span> by social partners, who are already waiting for the first Business Data Analytics graduates. <\/span>Meanwhile, to encourage students to choose this study programme and achieve good results<\/span>, incentive scholarships are established<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018W<\/span>e already have one of the scholarships \u2013 <\/span>it’s<\/span> a 1,000 Euro scholarship established by <\/span>Festo,<\/span> for a motivated student of the Business Data Analytics study programme,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>says the Head of the Department of Business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exceptional educational system<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>D. Ilevi\u010dien\u0117, Dean of the Faculty of Business, notes that the faculty provides opportunities for students to acquire more knowledge than is provided for in the study plan \u2013 from training aimed at developing competencies when working with the MS Excel <\/span>programme,<\/span> to the opportunity to deepen <\/span>knowledge<\/span> of the English language.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018I<\/span> also want to mention that the students of the Faculty of Business do not study in the same way as is usual in many other higher education institutions. Here <\/span>studies<\/span> are conducted on a modular basis. <\/span>This<\/span> means that students study in cycles, do not face the fear of the study session, and do not have to take<\/span> 7 <\/span>exams in January. They do all this gradually, every<\/span> 8 <\/span>weeks. At the end of the cycle, students <\/span>are usually required<\/span> to present a project, which often integrates specific business tasks. This is how students get to know the business world better,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>shares the Dean of the faculty.<\/span><\/p>\n

The advantages of this educational system are seen <\/span>by the students<\/span> themselves.<\/span> Benas Podeckis, a student in the International Business study programme, says that this system helps me memorise information better and learn more productively. Rokas Stankevi\u010dius, a student of the same study programme, agrees with him, admitting that at first <\/span>studies<\/span>,<\/span> conducted on a modular <\/span>basis,<\/span> caused him doubts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018U<\/span>ntil I started studying, I <\/span>didn’t<\/span> know about such a system. At first, I looked at it sceptically<\/span>, but over<\/span> time<\/span> I <\/span>began to notice more and more advantages: this system allows me to absorb information <\/span>faster,<\/span> and<\/span> save time, which is really important for me as a working student,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>the student shares his impressions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, entrepreneurship and creativity competencies <\/span>are needed<\/span> by almost every field specialist<\/span>, therefore<\/span>, adopting the experience of international partners, it is planned to update the <\/span>major<\/span> part of the study programme package by integrating the basics of entrepreneurship into various study programmes in the next year.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018A<\/span>t the faculty, we are quite actively developing the strengthening of entrepreneurship and creativity competencies, and we do this by attracting not only students of the Faculty of Business but also involving <\/span>both<\/span> international partners and students from other study programmes,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>shares D. Ilevi\u010dien\u0117.<\/span><\/p>\n

She also notes that faculty students have the opportunity and are encouraged to participate in various hackathons, projects or other activities that allow them to gain more knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018W<\/span>e create opportunities for them to participate in various projects <\/span>not only<\/span> in Lithuania<\/span> but also<\/span> abroad.<\/span> I can confidently say that the faculty finances every initiative of students or lecturers,<\/span>\u2019 <\/span>says D. Ilevi\u010dien\u0117.<\/span><\/p>\n
