Ecology of people‘s minds, bodies, nature, city – this was the message that the participants of the “Gossips 2019” sent to the audience expressively and responsibly.

Beginning creators from five countries (Czech Republic, Latvia, Portugal, Turkey and Lithuania) presented eighteen collections. According to Greta Rakšytė, one of the authors of joint collection “Secundus Gradus”, the “Gossips” grew up and became a well-known event, which means that the ideas and fashion have to be dictated responsibly. The event organized by artists of Kaunas has raised many generations throughout 21 years of its existence.

Collections reflected life and urbanism

In the water. Vania Filipa Verissimo Mateus from Portugal has introduced her collection “Seahorse Concept”. The designer chose Lithuania to spread the news about water pollution: “Both of our countries have the seaside. My aim is to make people think of the severe pollution problem. I send this message via forms of fashion emphasizing the soon-to-be extinct seahorse.” Sea theme was also chosen by Anna Zvěděliková from the Czech Republic. The author encouraged to save human‘s life by presenting a collection for men “Handle with Care” that was inspired by safety signs used on sea containers.

In town. The ideas of sustainability and responsible consumption were found not only in water, but also on the ground. “We were inspired by architecture in Istanbul and our Turkish colleagues were inspired by Lithuanian city buildings”, said G. Rakšytė. The joint collection “Secundus Gradus” depicted stained glass of mosques and towers of skyscrapers visible from two continents. The joint collection of Turkish creators “Hand by Hand” used the details of Trakai architecture. The audience was pleasantly surprised by the collection “Kaunas 22” by Jonas Jakštas, as it included images of St. Michael the Archangel’s Church, Pažaislis Monastery, House of Perkūnas and other buildings of Kaunas.

In human and nature. The collections “Flashlight” ( by Paulė Mozūraitytė), “Game” ( by Karolina Gaščiauskaitė), “Fantasyland” (by Miglė Žvirblytė), “Inner Fear” (by Karolina Kemežaitė), “Tropicana” (by Laura Žilinskaitė), “Point TO I” (by Inese Dembovska, Latvia), “Dysmorphia” (by Viktorija Skorupskaitė), “Nude Garden” (by Rūta Kriaučiūnaitė), “Artprotis” (by Adam Zapletal, Czech Republic), joint collection of Lithuanians “Ne(On)”, “Anba” (by Alma Kackane, Latvia), and “(Im)perfect” (by Aistė Černiauskaitė) represented the fragility of flora and fauna that surrounds us.
