Enrolment is now over and first-year students have started the new academic year at the institution they chose.

The admission results show that Kaunas University of Applied Sciences is among the leading higher education institutions this year, with the highest number of first-year students among higher education institutions in Kaunas. In order to maintain a high level of study quality, Kaunas University of Applied Sciences was one of the five universities of applied sciences that did not lower the bar and followed the minimum competitive pass mark (4.3) approved by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania for both state-funded and not state-funded study places.

Kaunas University of Applied Sciences – in the top three of Lithuanian higher education institutions in terms of the number of students admitted to study

According to the data of the Lithuanian Higher Institutions Association for Organising Joint Admission (LAMA BPO), 19 162 first-year students will start the new academic year. This is 393 fewer first-year students than last year. In universities, 10 541 study contracts have been concluded, while in universities of applied sciences – 8 621.

This year, 1 437 first-year students will start their studies at Kaunas University of Applied Sciences. This is the highest number of first-year students in Kaunas among all higher education institutions. It is also noteworthy that Kaunas University of Applied Sciences continues to be a leader not only in Kaunas, but also in Lithuania in terms of the number of first-year students. This year, just like last year, Kaunas University of Applied Sciences is the third largest higher education institution in Lithuania in terms of the number of students admitted to study, overtaken only by Vilnius University and Vilnius University of Applied Sciences.

This year, four study programmes of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences have been ranked in the top 10 most popular study programmes in universities of applied sciences according to the first priority. The most popular study programme in terms of the number of enrolments this year was Pre-primary and Primary Education, the second most popular study programme was Cosmetology, Logistics took the third place and the fourth most popular study programme was General practice nursing.

The position of the leading higher education institution, which has been maintained for several years in a row, is confirmed not only by the analysis of the choices made by the applicants, but also in the external evaluation carried out this spring, where international experts evaluated Kaunas University of Applied Sciences with extremely high marks.

Kaunas University of Applied Sciences starts its first short-cycle study programme

Systems Administration is the only such short-cycle study programme in Lithuania at Kaunas University of Applied Sciences. During the 1.5 years of studies, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work with advanced information technologies and personalised communication services requiring knowledge of information communication technologies.

Short-cycle studies are intended to acquire a professional qualification according to the fifth level of the Lithuanian Qualifications Framework, devoting 1.5-2 years to it.

Kaunas University of Applied Sciences works closely with employers, so this short-cycle study programme was launched in response to the shortage of systems administration specialists expressed by social partners. Such cooperation with employers ensures that graduates of Kaunas University of Applied Sciences will acquire a marketable and promising specialty that will allow them to quickly integrate into the labour market.
