This knowledge will help the student to correctly use the concepts and terms of educational science, to assess the competencies necessary for the pedagogical profession, to understand education as a permanent phenomenon, to initiate, plan, realize, analyze, present educational projects in educational practice.
Observation Internship 3 Spring Raimonda Sadauskienė Introduces to the types of pre-school education institutions, different education systems and methods, children’s day in the pre-school education institution, the specifics of the educator’s work, duties, documents. When communicating with pre-school children during the educational process, the student will see and meet the individual needs of children, assess the real rhythm of children’s life, will reflect on their observations, see gaps in their knowledge and skills.
Music Education 1 6 Spring Jadvyga Šimaitienė To convey the importance of music education in forming a personality protecting and creating the nation’s cultural values, to be able to choose ways and means for the development of children’s musical abilities and musical expression, to meaningfully apply musical culture values in the process of music education.
Children’s arts and Technologies 1 6 Spring Jolanta Stūronaitė Children’s Art and Technology 1 study program is intended for pre-school students seeking to know and understand the peculiarities of children’s art, its development, be able to choose educational tools and working methods, assessing the age of children, organize the educational process in art in both group and individual activities, create diverse and aesthetic, stimulating creative activity, environment, to rely on ethnocultural values. To provide the necessary assistance to children, engaging in art and craft activities, to improve their activities by evaluating the gained experience.
Pedagogical Psychology 3 Spring Edita Ivinkina To reveal the possibilities of personality learning and the peculiarities of education related to it. The acquired knowledge and skills will help students to get to know themselves and others better, to notice more effectively the psychological peculiarities related to education in professional activities. During the course, the object of the science of educational psychology, theories explaining human education, the principles of effective teaching and learning, and biopsychosocial factors influencing the learning process are introduced. Practical and independent work develops the skills of attention, self-analysis, self-regulation and teamwork.

The student will be able to: apply in practice the knowledge acquired during the studies; to monitor, record, analyze the interaction between children and educators; to inspire and organize children’s activities in various areas of activity, considering the needs, inclinations, abilities, social environment, culture, language, etc. of each child; to try out various ways and means to encourage children’s activity and initiative. They will discuss and analyze which methods of cooperation with the children’s parents are most often (rarely) used in educational practice. Will evaluate their achievements and progress during the pedagogical practice.

Development and Special Child Psychology 6 Autumn Edita Ivinkina The course is designed to understand the biopsychosocial features of human development, emphasizing the individuality and uniqueness of mental development. The course introduces the main theories of developmental psychology, analyzes the changes in mental phenomena at different stages of development, paying special attention to early, preschool and pre-primary school age, delves into the psychological situation of a special child, stress mechanism and coping strategies. The acquired knowledge will help to understand the child’s possibilities and limits according to his or her age stages and, accordingly, to nurture the child’s inner powers that determine the optimal personality development; to know the essential and specific needs of the child and to select adequate strategies for adult behavior in organizing the child’s upbringing and stress coping processes.
Drama Education 1 3 Autumn Rasa Čižauskaitė Introduces the ways of drama education of pre-school and pre-primary school children, conditions, means, methods, history and current trends. Abilities to initiate, promote and interpret the process of children’s acting, to understand the general principles of dramatic – improvisational – play creation are developed. By analyzing the impact of literature by age, the ability to interpret and adapt texts of various genres to activities that promote children’s creativity is developed. The possibilities of integrating other educational subjects into acting, the importance of fairy tales in drama, and the impact of puppet theater on children are introduced, including cooperation with the community of Kaunas State Puppet Theater (actor, director, props). Reflecting on the importance of creativity, the search for innovative ways of engaging children is encouraged. Pre-school / pre-primary school children’s achievement assessment and self-assessment in dramatic activities are analyzed.

Reflect on their achievements and progress during the pedagogical practice.

Education of Physical Activity 6 Autumn Audronė Vizbarienė The subject (module) is designed to get acquainted with the general basics of children’s physical education in pre-school institution, with the methods, ways and forms of organizing physical activity, peculiarities of the child’s body and the development of physical abilities. The acquired skills will allow to meet the individual physical needs of preschool and prie-primary school age children. The teacher will be able to plan, organize children’s physical activities, create a functional environment for children’s education, implement healthy lifestyle provisions, promote children’s physical activity.
Pedagogical Internship 3 6 Autumn Raimonda Sadauskienė Introduces to the development of the educational process focused on the development of each child’s competencies in the pre-primary school age group: planning and integration of children’s activities; educational content that promotes children’s self-expression, creativity, individuality, discoveries; the importance of cooperation with parents and primary school teachers. The student will be able to: assess and nurture the individual abilities, inclinations, hobbies of pre-primary school age children; plan, integrate, inspire individual activities, group activities; promote experiential education of children; foster children’s culture, creativity, free games; will coordinate their own and colleagues’ work, will self-assess the progress of practice, provide guidelines for pedagogical development.

Professional Etiquette 3 Spring Jolanta Stūronaitė The subject of Professional Etiquette is intended for students seeking to become acquainted with the basic norms of conduct and their application in personal and professional activities. While studying this subject (during lectures, seminars, exercises) students will delve into the etiquette of interpersonal and formal communication, examine the requirements and recommendations of etiquette: organizing and participating in formal events, maintaining proper communication with employers, colleagues and other community members, choosing the right clothing style for the formal environment. Will analyze the importance of following the recommendations of etiquette for the creation of a harmonious work environment and psychological climate. During the exercise, independent work, students will perform tasks, solve problematic situations related to the observance / application of etiquette recommendations in the areas of formal and interpersonal communication.
