Foreign Language 1 3 Autumn Foreign language (English) 1 increases the knowledge of language, improves speaking and writing skills on various topics, helps to convey heard or read information. The subject assists students to form strong spoken language skills that will be needed in their chosen field. Various speaking, writing, reading and listening tasks are included in the subject. Students are taught to express thoughts correctly, fluently, visually, and creatively on different topics both orally and in writing; students are acquainted with active and passive vocabulary of specific topics and are trained to use them correctly. The course unit encourages students to independently search for various literature and information to enrich their vocabulary.
Drawing 1 3 Autumn The course unit “Drawing 1” introduces to the basics of drawing: composition requirements, object proportions, rules of perspective, light and shading, drawing terminology, tools and media, drawing methods and techniques.  The aim of the course unit is to provide the students with the most important knowledge of drawing requirements, rules, drawing technique, ways and means. To develop the primary drawing abilities and skills.
Applied computer programs 1 / Applied computer programs 2 6 Autumn The course unit is designed to Design study proramme students. Students will master vector Adobe Illustrator program and three-dimensional modelling program 3Ds max. During studines students become familiar with the main program tools, their parametres, work environment and object creation and editing techniques. Solving specific tasks students develop computer graphics skills, learn to combine computer graphics programs and choose the most optimal solution to fulfill the required task.  /  The course unit introduces students to a computer program Adobe InDesign to perform lay-out tasks and design program ArchiCAD; the main program tools, their parameters, the working environment, object creation and editing techniques. Solving specific tasks students develop computer graphics skills, learn to combine computer graphics programs and to select the most optimal solutions to perform the required task. Students are provided with practical knowledge of the development of graphic and spatial objects, modelling, layout, performance of projective drawings and plans.
2D Composition 9 Autumn The course unit is designed to perceive the importance of composition, to master the principles and types of the composition, to understand and master expression and harmonization means of the two-dimensional and three-dimensional composition, to understand the significance of the colour in the composition.
Basics of Design 1 3 Autumn The course unit “Basics of Design 1” introduces to the origin of design and its concept; definition of design; composion patterns; the system of the analysis and synthesis of the need and use of the object; the structure of  a brand style; object functions, materials, constructions, technology, interdependence of the shape (FMKTF); proportions; peculiarities of visual information; systems of harmonious proportions and their application in designing objects.

Drawing 2 3 Spring The course unit “Drawing 2” is studied in the 3 semester. Students are introduced to:  theoretical basics about the description of a human figure and a portrait; requirements for sketching interior and exterior environment; variety of graphic design expression. Students will develop practical skills to consistently analyze the portrait, figure structure, proportions and character. Consistent process of delivering themes will foster students to achieve the result. Students are taught a creative composition, perspective, plastic anatomy, portrait, analysis of figure structure, principles of tonal modelling in search for decisions of individual expression. Students are provided with knowledge of different types of drawing (sketch, study, structural, tone, linear drawing), various drawing tools and techniques (pencil, charcoal, sanguine, soussi, pastels, ink, marker, etc.); search for creativity in a drawing expression.
Basics of Design 2 3 Spring The content of Basics of Design consists of the following elements: Designer communication and the definition of portfolio; stages of designing portfolio/ folder of creative works; principles and importance of design process documentation; system of analysis and synthesis of analogues of the designed design object(s).
3D Composition 3 Spring The course 3D composition is intended for the study of the design program. The topics of the course are related to the essence of the formation of a 3D composition. The principles of 3D composition are analyzed. The tasks of 3D composition are designed to get acquainted with the principles of organic form formation in the transition from plane to 3D composition, module combinatorial composition, interaction of forms. The principles of form formation are examined by experimenting with paper plastic, gypsum and other materials. The relief form is considered.
Interior and Furniture Design Methods 9 Spring The course Interior and Furniture Design Methods is designed to introduce the methodology for designing simple spaces, furniture and equipment, basic principles of drawing, technologies and simple constructions, finishing materials. Students deepen their knowledge of the essential stages of project preparation and develop skills for solving practical and independent tasks by applying specialized IT software packages.
Basics of Graphic Design and 2D Animation 9 Spring The course consists of two parts. The main studies are designed to gain knowledge about the most important stages of the design process of graphic design objects: pre-design stage of graphic design object design, the stage of creative exploration, visualization of the graphic design object design and execution of the final layout. The design stages of graphic design are introduced through practical tasks. The principles of 3D graphic design object design are studied.
During the study of the next part of the subject students learn the basics of 2D animation and motion graphics computer graphics program Adobe After Effects: the main tools of the program, their parameters, work environment and ways of creating and editing objects. By solving specific tasks, students develop computer graphics skills, learn to combine computer graphics programs, and choose the most optimal solution for their creative work. Students learn all the basic techniques from working with shapes, text and textures to visual effects, transitions and 3D graphics.
Introduction Internship – Interpretation of Nature Forms 6 Spring The course unit is designed to develop students‘ skills in interior, furniture, advertising and graphic design studies. Analyze and study natural forms, to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional compositions, created compositions apply in designing objects and object oriented environment.

Drawing 3 3 Autumn The course unit “Drawing 3” is studied in the fourth semester. Students draw complex tasks, raise and solve a number of technical and creative problems; draw and sketch using various drawing tools, techniques and methods, traditional and non-traditional productions. The tasks develop students’ imaginations and encourage thinking, experimenting, searching.
Basics of Photography 3 Autumn The course unit “Basics of Photography” introduces the history of photography, optics and digital cameras; acquisition of photography skills, which will help students in accomplishment of various disciplinary projects of design.
Branding Design and Computer Graphic 9 Autumn This course unit is designed to introduce the principles of visual style design for a specific object. The main elements of visual style, their design requirements and rules are introduced. Problems of composing sign, text, color and graphic illustration in graphic expression are solved. Bulk advertising design is also considered.
During the studies of course unit students master the computer layout program Adobe InDesign: they are introduced to the main program tools, their parameters, work environment and methods of creating and editing objects.
By solving specific tasks, students develop computer graphics skills, learn to combine computer graphics programs and choose the most optimal solution for the required task. They learn to prepare projects for press and Internet access, and also develop computer graphics skills.
Print 3 Autumn The course “Print” is designed to gain knowledge about the meaning of print for the creation of design objects. During this course the main stages of print development and their stylistic graphic properties are introduced. Print structure, proportion, optics and principles of print classification are analyzed. A lot of attention is paid to the analysis and application of print and text composition rules in various objects of graphic design, advertising and interior design. Print and text design tasks are performed by composing abstract creative compositions and designing specific themes related to print and text. The essence of the subject of calligraphy is also introduced. Introduction to calligraphy tools: metal crossed feathers, brushes, etc. Compositions of calligraphic interpretation are performed.
Educational Internship 6 Autumn The aim of the internship is to develop and deepen the knowledge and skills acquired during the studies, to apply them in practical professional activities, organizing the company’s imitation activities, performing commissioned work in practical training environments. Students are introduced to the organizational structure of the imitation company, operating regulations, job functions, planned practical activities, evaluation criteria. Practical tasks – commissioned work – are performed according to the analytical data of design and their systems discussed / supplemented by the students and performed by themselves. Students perform tasks in simulation company environments / auditoriums, independently using IT software packages, practical work descriptions, in consultation with the lecturer – internship supervisor.
Practical skills of AutoCad, 3D max, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign IT programs are deepened during design tasks of design objects and their systems, as well as during outsourcing. Social skills are formed in an interdisciplinary team: to organize, evaluate and improve the work of the team and to be its leader, communicate and cooperate with customers and social partners.
Computer Graphics 1 3 Autumn The aim of the course is to get acquainted with the vector computer graphics program Corel Draw. During the course students will learn to create, edit and transform vector graphic objects and their compositions; will get acquainted with the features of text layout and photo editing options. 2D computer graphics skills, planar methods of drawing and modeling objects will be developed. Students will be prepared to implement their own creative graphic projects independently.
Typography 3 Autumn The course of Typography is designed to gain knowledge about the meaning of font for the creation of design objects. During the course of typography, the main stages of font development and their stylistic graphic properties are introduced. Font structure, proportion, optics and principles of font classification are analyzed. A lot of attention is paid to the analysis and application of font and text composition rules in various objects of graphic design, advertising and interior design. Typographic design tasks are performed by composing abstract creative compositions and designing specific themes related to font and text.
Design Experiments 6 Spring The aim of the course is to get acquainted with the principles of conceptual design object design based on practical experiments and experience; to understand the aesthetics of the material and its impact on the environment, the principles of the synthesis of various materials.
Brief description of the course: This course introduces the processes of an experimental design object based on practical experiments and experiences. Glass, ceramics, leather, textile technologies, basic concepts and materials as well as possibilities of their use are introduced. During practical experiments, the properties of materials and the principles of their synthesis, aesthetics and influence on the formation of the environment are introduced. As a result of the experiment, the discovered functional idea of the design object is developed, the form and construction of the conceptual object are solved and the prototype of the design object is implemented.
Painting 3 Spring The course unit “Painting” is designed to study implications of contemporary art characteristic and help to develop new artistic expression ways. Visual art –contemprorary painting and philosohpy and history of Art in their contexsts will explain their positions and problems in art plastic expression methods. Experimental, creative painting plastics relates to painting expression means and reflexions of visual art theories.
Actual examples of historical and contemporary art are examined and discussed in this context. Philosophical students  world conception is developed as well as its connections with the process of visual plastic world expression. The subject encourages expression of individual ideas and their rendering in painting.
Professional Internship 6 Spring The aim of the internship is to get acquainted with the designer’s activities in the company / organization and to acquire knowledge and practical skills in performing professional design object design tasks under the guidance of a practice mentor. During the internship students get acquainted with the company as a system, its internal and external relations and main goals of the company. They analyze the business model of the intended / selected company / organization and participate in practical activities, during which students apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a specific professional activity and acquire or improve the skills necessary for professional activity. Students also perform design / visualization work, work in a team or individually, communicate with clients, prepare a report on the results of professional internship and present them.
Lay-out and Technologies of Print Objects 6 Spring The course unit “Lay-out and Technologies of Print Objects” is designed to provide students with knowledge of  printing technology, to develop design and lay-out preparation skills, to combine editing and printing peculiarities in the development of the print object – magazine.
Design of Printing Objects 3 Spring The course unit is intended to help students to gain knowledge of designing advertising, information and other types of print objects and prepare them for release. Examines the process of graphic design peculiarities in print applications. The specific topic is given in the beginning of each semester. This can be exhibitions, conferences, event posters, flyers and invitations. Following the subject (module) students gain experience in project realization that will be implemented in practice.
Interior Decoration Materials and Technologies 6 Spring This course introduces the materials used in interior decoration, their properties and specifics of use. The main engineering systems of buildings are presented, the principles of use of lighting and psychological aspects are analyzed in detail, the types of lighting sources and technologies in the interior are introduced. Ergonomic requirements in public and residential interiors are presented.
Office Interior Project 3 Spring During the studies of this subject, students collect, analyze and evaluate information about the needs, problems and solutions of employees and customers of office facilities. They get acquainted with the methodology of office interior, unique and series production of furniture, equipment, materials, products, design and application, engineering technologies, their solutions and constructions. Designs office interiors, applies unique and / or mass-produced furniture to the project. Students deepen their knowledge about the stages of preparation of office interior projects and develop practical and independent problem-solving skills by applying specialized IT software packages. They also design the interior of the office.
Computer Graphics 2 3 Spring During the course students master the SketchUp program for three-dimensional computer graphics. Students are introduced to the basics of 3D computer modeling, the main functions of SketchUp program, editing tools, methods and techniques of object construction, basics of texturing. Students are taught to prepare a model for creation of realistic visualizations. During the course, 3D objects are created for interior and exterior design.
Basics of WEB Design 3 Spring This course is designed to acquaint with the principles and stages of website development, applying the created object style and logo. The specifics of website content are discussed. Website design is solved: text, colour and illustration composition problems. The elements and blocks of the website structure are edited and their use is adapted to adapt the website to various mobile devices. Possibilities and peculiarities of working with a server (web hosting environment) are analyzed. Website navigation and menu bar description (HTML) are created and stylistic (CSS) editing is performed. The basics of creating a banner and applying it to an HTML document are introduced.
3rd academic year
Interior Design 2 6 Autumn The course introduces the methodology of interior design of a public multifunctional space, taking into account the functions of spaces, human activities and ergonomic regularities of spaces. When choosing an object for the design of interior space, it is perceived as a harmony of external form and internal content – interior spaces.
Graphics Design 2 6 Autumn This course is designed to gain knowledge about the peculiarities of web design. During the study of the course, a personal website is designed, which presents the work done during the study years and beyond. Designing a personal website gives students the opportunity to develop their own portfolio, which they can later use as a presentation for employers and the public. The studies of this course (module) are integrated with the studies of the course (module) Web page layout and technology. Students are introduced to the technological possibilities of web pages and page layout using computer software Adobe Flash CS4. Types of animation and buttons are used for page layout. Several ACS3 codes are used for interactivity.
Interior Design 3 6 Spring During this course, students conduct a design study related to the relevance and issues of the chosen final thesis. They collect, analyze and evaluate information about the needs, problems and solutions of potential users (selected topic of the final thesis). The students perform analysis of the current condition of the selected object and analysis of similar projects and / or implementations. Provides assessments and possible interior project development scenarios, conceptual solutions. Prepares and presents the conclusions of research and creative work.
Graphics Design 3 6 Spring This course is designed to make conceptual suggestions for future final thesis. The principles of graphic design and visual communication, the works of recognized graphic designers and the peculiarities of their design process in specific objects are analyzed. The topics in the field of graphic design for future final thesis are selected: visual style, posters, advertising, informational and online objects, design of books, magazines and other publications, packaging design, etc. Analogous material is collected and systematized. Sketches, visualizations of the topic concept are performed and presented for review.
A catalog design layout is created on a specific topic – from an idea to a print object.
Furniture Design 3 Autumn This course is for studies in furniture design specialization. The object of design is furniture or a group of furniture, which can be created together by integrating several different materials. In the course students are introduced to furniture production technology, their constructions, materials, physical properties.
Graphics 3 Autumn The study of the course of Graphics introduces the basics of classical graphics, the history of graphics, the development of development, printing methods, techniques, graphic terms, tools and instruments. While studying the subject of graphics, students will be able to compose, carve various materials for graphics, print engraved clichés. They will also get acquainted with the concept and specifics of the author’s art book and will be able to do it by themselves. The acquired knowledge and skills students will be able to apply in the design of specialty tasks. (The existing faculty base allows access to only a few of the many graphic techniques).
