General Description: The aim of the study programme is to educate a general practice nurse who is able to provide quality general care in all level human health care establishments and communities for all age healthy, ill, disabled persons and their tenders, empowering patients for healthy lifestyle skills, applying the science evidence and practice based general nursing care, observing medical ethics, general principles of health care and nursing, having ability to work independently and in a team.

Learning outcomes. Graduates will:

  • independently diagnose, plan, organize and implement care of patients at all level human health care institutions, on the basis of the acquired theoretical and clinical knowledge and skills of general nursing;
  • analyse the quality of care to improve nursing practice by using national and international references, documents regulating activities of the profession, and by carrying out scientific applied research;
  • empower a patient, family, community towards healthy lifestyle skills and independently give advice to, instruct and support patients in need of care and their attachment figures;
  • ensure and assess the quality of nursing actions, procedures of therapeutic interventions and instrumental investigations by using modern technologies of the nursing care;
  • independently initiate life-preserving immediate measures and apply them in acute conditions, crises and disasters;
  • provide nursing services and make professional decisions applying holistic approach in assessment of an individual, observing principles of safety, environment-friendly impact on the surroundings;
  • communicate and collaborate with patients and their tenders, other health care specialists in accordance with the principles of medical ethics and deontology, disseminate professional experience, participate in vocational training of health care personnel.
